Agenda KC leadership conference to be held Sept. 28 and 29
The City of Kansas City, Mo., Office of Civic and Community Engagement, a division of the City Manager's Office, will hold the Agenda KC leadership conference from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 28 and Wednesday, Sept. 29 at the Kauffman Foundation Conference Center, 4801 Rockhill Road.
This third annual conference will allow high school students to hear from and interact with professionals in a variety of career fields, including many careers that are projected to grow in the next 10 years. The conference will focus on seven tracks: health care/medicine, education, business entrepreneurship, arts/graphic design, math/science/technology, construction/architecture/mixed development/city planning/real estate, and law/public safety. Students representing most high schools in the Greater Kansas City area can register to attend the conference through their respective high schools.
More than 50 professionals representing a variety of professions and companies in the greater Kansas City area will conduct workshops from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Students will also participate in a challenge that will require them to create business plans for a new business that will operate in their chosen career track.
The keynote speakers will be Ralph Reid, vice president of Corporate Social Responsibility for Sprint Nextel, on Tuesday, Sept. 28; and Carey Wilkerson Looney, vice president and secretary of the H&R Block Foundation, on Wednesday, Sept. 29.
