Trash Workers Appreciation Day is Sept. 27

The City of Kansas City, Mo., Neighborhood and Community Services Department and the Public Works Department invite residents to attend a Trash Workers Appreciation Day celebration with representatives from the Kansas City Neighborhood Advisory Council.

The celebration will be held Sept. 27 from 4-7 p.m. at the Brush Creek Community Center, 3801 Emanuel Cleaver II Blvd., to honor the workers who pick up trash, recyclables and bulky items. The workers will share stories about their duties collecting these items from 10,000 homes every day. Community members also are asked to come and share their stories about these City services. This potluck celebration is being sponsored by the City's Parks and Recreation Department.

To sign up to bring a snack (cookies, soft drinks and other small items) to this event, call Tammy Gay, member of the Kansas City Neighborhood Advisory Council, (816) 333-4410.
