Talented youth sought for Spotlight on KC

National talent scouts to judge contest

Youth ages 12-18 can compete for a professional demo package and cash prizes at the Spotlight on KC talent show. The talent show will be Oct. 29, at 6 p.m. at the Music Hall, 301 W. 13th St. in Kansas City, Mo.

Participants must attend free, mandatory entertainment workshops Oct. 1, from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m., and Oct. 8, from 8 a.m. until noon; and auditions Oct. 8, from noon until 5 p.m. The workshops and auditions will be at Lincoln Preparatory Middle School, 2012 E. 23rd St. in Kansas City, Mo. These sessions are being coordinated by Lisa Bowen from the Charlie Parker Institute of Jazz.

The guest master of ceremonies for the talent show is JT Quick from Hot 103 Jamz. Performers will be judged by professional agents from Universal Music Production Company, and Def Jam Recordings in New York. The sponsors of the event are the City of Kansas City, Mo., MoveUp and Urban Motion.
