City works to inform/register voters for November election

In preparation for the November election, the City of Kansas City, Mo., is working to ensure that residents who are registered to vote know where to cast their ballot and that those who aren’t know where they can register.

Residents can watch KCCG-TV2, the City’s government channel, for contact information for the election boards in Kansas City, Clay and Platte counties and the Cass County clerk. The election authorities can answer all voting-related questions. Residents must register by Oct. 8 to be eligible for the November election.

Voters also may register Monday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the City Clerk’s Office on the 25th floor of City Hall and Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the City Hall lobby, at the Health Department, 2400 Troost Ave., and at the Water Services Department, 4800 E. 63rd St. Information for City Hall voter registration also is listed on the City’s Web site at www.kcmo.org

The City’s Youth Advocacy Office, a division of the City Manager’s Office, is conducting voter registration drives at all high schools in the Kansas City, Mo., city limits during lunch periods until Oct. 2.

“There are high-profile national and local issues on the ballot in November, and the City wants to make sure that everyone who is eligible and wants to vote has that opportunity,” City Manager Wayne A. Cauthen said.

For more information, call the 3-1-1 Action Center at 311 or 513-1313, or visit the Kansas City Election Board at www.kceb.org. The Kansas City Election Board also is seeking election volunteers.

Media inquiries should be directed to Gerald Smith, director of the General Services
