Free paint available for eligible City homeowners
Participants may choose paint colors and receive other supplies
The City of Kansas City, Mo., will accept applications beginning Sept. 3 for a program that provides free high-quality exterior paint to eligible homeowners.
Residents must complete an application to receive paint, primer, caulking and other supplies related to the painting of their home. Please note, the total cost of the paint supplies cannot exceed $500. Applicants must also:
- Reside in Kansas City, Mo.
- Own and live in the property to be painted
- Own only one property
Meet these household income guidelines:
- One person - $39,900
- Two people - $45,600
- Three people - $51,300
- Four people - $56,950
- Five people - $61,550
- Six people - $66,100
- Seven people - $70,650
- Eight or more people - $75,200
Paint recipients must make all necessary repairs and properly prepare their houses for painting prior to receiving their supplies. After an inspector determines houses are ready to be painted, vouchers will be awarded to homeowners, allowing them to choose an in-store color of Porter paint; no color matching will be done.
"Sometimes, homeowners need a little help with the upkeep of their property. Through this program, we’re able to help people and improve our neighborhoods one house at a time," said Stuart Bullington, assistant director of the Neighborhoods and Housing Services Department.
