FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Aug. 6, 2008
Santa Fe Trail Road closed between Wornall and Pennsylvania
Drivers who travel along western Santa Fe Trail Road will now face a temporary detour. Construction on the road between Wornall Road and Pennsylvania Avenue will require a road closure now through April 2009. The construction, designed to control traffic flow along Santa Fe Trail Road and build a new bicycle/pedestrian trail near the road, will include upgrading traffic signals, installation of new curbs and sidewalks and additional turn lanes at the intersection of Santa Fe Trail and Wornall roads.
Drivers should use 119th Terrace as an alternate route. Local residents will have access to their properties throughout construction.
As with any construction project, drivers and pedestrians are urged to stay alert and aware of hazardous conditions while traveling in the area. Construction site conditions can change rapidly. The movement of construction equipment and materials can make areas previously clear become hazardous. While in effect, posted restrictions about the site, street and lane closures should not be ignored.
