Kansas City to hold fifth annual contracting and procurement forum
The City of Kansas City, Mo., Human Relations Department encourages area businesses interested in learning about government contract bidding to attend the fifth annual Kansas City Government Contracting and Procurement Forum on Tuesday, Aug. 9. The forum will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Downtown Kansas City Marriot Muehlebach Tower, 200 W. 12th St.
The theme of this year’s forum is “Power Up Your Connections” and will provide local and regional business partners with critical information, networking and access to government contracting and procurement opportunities.
The forum is free and open to the public and features face-to-face business sessions, workshops and exhibits. City departments; local, state and federal agencies; and local businesses will provide information about government contracting opportunities.
An Awards Recognition Luncheon will begin at 11:30 a.m. This event will recognize local contractors who have consistently demonstrated a commitment to small business development. Mayor Sly James will be the keynote speaker. While the forum is free and open to the public, registration for the luncheon is required and there is a $40 fee to attend.
The forum is co-hosted by the City’s Human Relations Department; the City’s Parks and Recreation Department; Burns & McDonnell; and the Mid America Minority Business Development Council.
