North Brighton closure scheduled for Aug. 2
The City of Kansas City, Missouri’s Capital Projects Office will continue construction on North Brighton Avenue. The roadway between Northeast Vivion Road and Northeast 58th Street will be closed for approximately five weeks, starting Aug. 2.
The $19 million project, which started in April 2009, will widen North Brighton Avenue from two to four lanes between Northeast Vivion Road and Northeast 55th Street, flattening hills and valleys and adding curbs and gutters, enclosed storm sewers, street lights, bicycle lanes and sidewalks. The City’s Capital Projects Office is managing the design and construction of the North Brighton improvements, which are scheduled for completion in spring 2011.
During the closure, residents north of the Mill Creek Bridge will access North Brighton Avenue from the north at Northeast 58th Street and Northeast 59th Terrace while southbound access will be closed. Residents south of the bridge will access Vivion Road via Northeast 54th Street and North Denver Avenue. Detour routes will be marked.
Media inquiries about this closure should be directed to Sean Demory, communications manager for the Capital Projects Office, 816-513-0059.
