Engage KC Leadership Board awaits arrival of the Japanese delegation
The City of Kansas City, Mo., Mayor Sly James and the Engage KC Leadership Board will welcome a delegation of young leaders from Kurashiki, Japan next Monday, July 25.
The Engage KC Leadership Board will greet the Japanese delegation and discuss their involvement in city government and in the community. The Japanese delegation will visit the Power and Light District for lunch and continue exploring Kansas City attractions with a tour of the Sprint Center.
Kurashiki, Japan has been a Sister City with Kansas City since 1972.
The Engage KC Leadership Board had similar interaction with a group of young people from the Central European Exchange on July 11, 2011. The group sat in on the board’s first meeting and was able to interact with individual board members, asking questions about their roles in city government and sharing cultural similarities and differences.
The Engage KC Leadership Board promotes cultural diversity and civic engagement. The board takes priority in the development of young people and community involvement.
Media inquiries and other requests for information about the Japanese Delegation should be directed to Teresa Martinez, Office of the City Manager, at 816-513-1366 or Thalia Cherry, Office of Civic and Community Engagement, at 816-513-1378.
