Emergency Operations Center monitors weather
The City of Kansas City, Mo., Emergency Management Office, a division of the City Manager's Office, has been activated to Level 2 to respond to widespread flash flooding throughout the city. City barricade crews are on standby in case of more severe flooding.
Emergency Operations Center Manager D.A. Christian activated the center to Level 2 at 3 p.m. to assemble employees from the Police Department, Public Works Department, Parks and Recreation Department, Fire Department, Water Services Department, General Services Department, and the 3-1-1 Action Center and City Communications Office (both divisions of the City Manager's Office) to monitor the weather and prepare for actions that might need to be taken to protect residents.
Storms will continue to affect the area today, and may cause flooding. Drivers should use caution and avoid areas that are barricaded or where the roadway is covered with water.
