Youth Office sponsors town hall meeting with Mayor Funkhouser
The City of Kansas City, Mo., Youth Advocacy Office, a division of the City Manager's Office, and the Kansas City Youth Commission are hosting a town hall meeting with Mayor Mark Funkhouser for Kansas City, Mo., youth ages 12-25. The event is from 6-7:15 p.m. on July 9 at the Penn Valley Community College Science and Technology Building, 3201 Southwest Trafficway, suite 101.
“These young people represent the future employees, business owners and residents of the city and it’s important to hear their suggestions and concerns,” said Thalia Cherry, youth advocate manager for the Youth Advocacy Office. “Cultivating the idea of a City government that welcomes diverse viewpoints is a common goal of the Mayor’s and City Manager’s offices.”
Young residents are encouraged to come to the event and voice comments or concerns.
The Youth Commission was established in 2005 as the official youth voice in the City’s decision-making process. Commissioners from across the city represent their peers during one-year terms.
