FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: July 2, 2004
Trash tags not needed for July 6-10 trash collection
Trash tags will not be required on trash collection scheduled for July 6-10. Also, trash collection is delayed one day this week due to the Monday holiday.
The new trash system in Kansas City, Mo., requires tags to be used for trash set out for residential collection exceeding two bags a week. This system, along the curbside recycling, has been implemented in one third of the City to date. This system will go into effect in another third of the City Sept. 1, and the remainder of the city Dec. 1.
The trash plan calls for two weeks during the year when the tags are not required. Tags are not required on the week between Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, and on the week after Independence Day.
All other trash rules are in effect this week including the requirement that items weigh less than 40 pounds each, and that leaves, brush, and grass clippings cannot be placed out with trash.
