Engage KC volunteers at All-America City Competition
The City of Kansas City, Mo.’s, Engage KC Leadership Board will demonstrate both civic and community involvement in many capacities at this year’s All-America City Competition at Kansas City, Mo.’s Hyatt Regency Crown Center.
The Engage KC Leadership Board will collaborate with the Dedham Youth Commission of Dedham, Mass., to build a community garden and renovate projects at the Emmanuel Family and Child Development Center today, Thursday, June 16 from 2:30-5 p.m. Dedham, Mass., is a finalist jurisdiction competing in the All-American City Competition.
“We are excited to partner with other dedicated young people to serve an organization in our community,” said Thalia Cherry, director of the Office of Civic and Community Engagement.
In addition, the Engage KC Leadership Board will host a workshop focusing on healthy habits and effective leadership for 80 middle and high school students during the competition.
The All-America City Awards competition is the signature event of the National Civic League and annually recognizes those U.S. cities that have demonstrated community success. Kansas City, Mo., has been honored as an All-America City multiple times in the past. This year, 23 cities, including Dedham, Mass., are finalists.
