City’s animal shelter holds adoption event

The City of Kansas City, Mo., Animal Shelter will hold a dog and cat adoption event Saturday, June 25 from noon to 4 p.m. at its shelter at 4400 Raytown Road.

The City's Animal Shelter houses an average of 9,000 animals annually. The shelter features animals of all ages, sizes, color and breed. Those looking for a family pet can find a wide variety of cats, kittens, dogs and puppies.

During the event, dog adoptions will cost $75, and cat adoptions will cost $40. This price includes spaying or neutering, a rabies vaccination, canine or feline distemper vaccination, a one-year pet license, plus a heartworm test or feline leukemia test.

In addition, a cat adoption special in honor of Adopt-a-Shelter Cat Month is currently running at the shelter. Until Thursday, June 30, adopters may adopt two cats for $65.
