FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: June 9, 2004
Moment of silence planned in honor of President Reagan
To pay respect to President Ronald Reagan and recognize his service to our country, all on-duty City employees will observe a moment of silence at 10:30 a.m. on June 11.
The moment of silence will coincide with the 11:30 a.m. EDT beginning of the National Funeral Service at Washington National Cathedral.
Friday at 10:30 a.m., all City radio dispatching stations will emit one short tone signal announcing a moment of silence and another tone signal at 10:31 a.m.
City employees operating vehicles, who at that moment may do so safely and legally, will park their vehicles. City employees performing manual tasks will safely lay down their work tools, and employees in office areas will sit quietly at their desks.
Only emergency services will be provided during this time.
