City kicks off KC After Dark with youth lock-in event June 6-7
The City of Kansas City, Mo., Youth Advocacy Office, a division of the City Manager's Office, will begin its KC After Dark summer youth program with a lock-in from 7 p.m. on June 6 to 7 a.m. on June 7 at the Thornberry Boys and Girls Club, 3831 E. 43rd St.
The event is for youth ages 12-17, and pre-registration is required by calling (816) 513-1314.
Trained youth development staff will supervise the lock-in and off-duty police officers will provide security.
Participants will have dinner at 11 p.m. and have access to an open gym, teen computer lab, circle lab, game room, movie room and video, card and board games. There also will be volleyball and basketball tournaments. Breakfast will be served at 6 a.m. on June 7.
All youth must check in by 8 p.m. and will not be allowed to leave the premises once they enter.
KC After Dark is a summer-long program designed to provide entertaining events for Kansas City youth. The City and other community and corporate partners sponsor the program.
