Adult cat adoption fees waived in June at Kansas City, Mo., Animal Shelter
In honor of Adopt-A-Cat Month, the Kansas City Pet Project at the City of Kansas City, Mo., Animal Shelter will waive all adoption fees on adult cats (six months and older) from June 1-30. Cat adoptions include spay/neuter surgery, FIV/FeLV testing, deworming and age-appropriate vaccinations – a $400 value.
During summer months, adult cats are often overlooked in shelters, with families opting to adopt kittens instead. By removing the cost barrier to obtaining a cat from the shelter, KC Pet Project hopes to reduce the number of unaltered and unvaccinated cats in the community.
“With so many wonderful cats available, this is a great time to adopt,” said Tori Fugate, donor engagement and community events coordinator at Kansas City Pet Project.
Adopters of fee-waived cats work with adoption counselors and go through the same process as other adopters.
The Kansas City Pet Project is located near the Truman Sports Complex at 4400 Raytown Road in Kansas City, Mo. Hours of Operation are: Saturday-Sunday from noon-5 p.m. and Tuesday-Friday from noon to 6 p.m. It is closed Monday.
For more information or to schedule interviews, on-site remotes, or photos of dogs and cats available for adoption, please contact Tori Fugate, donor engagement and community events coordinator, at 816-513-9818.
