RecycleFIRST slated for mid-September
Postcards in the mail to Kansas City, Mo., residents this week signal the approach of the RecycleFIRST program.
RecycleFIRST is a reconfiguration of City waste services to provide curbside recycling as the first option for managing a large part of the City's solid waste. As part of the program, residents will receive bag tags to be used for each additional bag of trash, beyond the first one, that needs to be collected by the City each week. The curbside recycling and bag tag requirements are scheduled to begin Sept. 15.
Other changes will occur, and all details of the program will be shared in the coming weeks.
The purpose of the postcards is to assist the City with the development of a database that will be used for the program. Addressees who received the postcard but are a business or have multiple families living at one address are asked to call the Department of Environmental Management’s Citizen Service, (816) 513-3490.
Residents of Kansas City, Mo., who live in a single family residence and did not receive a postcard, are asked to call (816) 513-3490, as well. Residents who received the postcard and live in a single family residence do not need to call.
