Queen new City Treasurer

The City of Kansas City, Mo., has announced that Tammy Queen has been appointed City Treasurer and

assumed the duties and responsibilities as the custodian of all City funds. This includes accounting for $1.3 billion in annual cash receipts, a debt portfolio valued at $2.4 billion, $145 million in annual real estate tax and special assessment collections, and a cash management investment portfolio valued at more than $850 million.

“Ms. Queen has more than 15 years of experience with the City in various financial positions,” said Director of Finance, Randall J. Landes. “She has taken on increasingly responsible positions within the Finance Department with a special emphasis on the City’s commercial and investment banking operations. I believe Ms. Queen has the depth and breadth of knowledge in treasury to make her the ideal candidate for this position.”

Since joining the City in 1991, Queen has served in many areas of finance: Finance Department, Treasury Division, Acting City Treasurer, (2010 – Present); Finance Department, Treasury Division, Cash Manager, (2003 – Present); Finance Department, Revenue Division, Financial Manager (Analyst III), (1998 – 1999); Finance Department, Accountant III and Accountant II, (1993 – 1997); Aviation Department, Accounting Division, Special Projects Accountant I (1990 – 1993).



Queen left the City for a short time (1999 – 2003) to serve as a Sr. Financial Analyst (Sr. Pricing Analyst/Reporting Analyst) with the Finance Department of Ferrellgas.

Queen has a Master of Business Administration in Finance from the University of Missouri - Kansas City and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and Banking from the University of Missouri - Columbia. Queen is a Certified Treasury Professional (CTP) and an Accredited ACH Professional (AAP).

Queen started her new position May 24.
