Cars up for May 22 City auction now online

Auction starts at 10 a.m. and viewing starts at 8 a.m.

The City of Kansas City, Mo., Tow Services Division of the Neighborhood and Community Services Department will have its first Premium Auto Auction on May 22 at 3901 Bennington Ave., Kansas City, Mo. The auction will start at 10 a.m. and the cars will be available for in-person viewing at 8 a.m.

A list of the vehicles for sale is online at www.kcmo.org/neigh/premiumcars.pdf. The list can be viewed online, but all bids must be made in-person.

The goals of the City's first Premium Auto Auction, and the other pilot auctions scheduled for June 19 and July 31, are to provide an opportunity for buyers to purchase a car at a lower than retail price. There is no reserve on these vehicles and they will be sold to the highest bidder. Many of the vehicles being sold were obtained through police actions and seizures.

Media inquiries and other requests for more information about this issue should be addressed to Mike Schumacher, manager of the Tow Services Division, (816) 784-4087.
