Residents advised about wastewater overflow in Blue River Watershed

The City of Kansas City, Mo., Water Services Department has reported a wastewater overflow due to a collapsed sewer line at 5353 E. 39th St. The leak was discovered on Wednesday, May 16 at 3:30 p.m. The sewage was surfacing at a rate of less than 0.5 gallons per minute. It was contained in the street and did not reach a water source.

Water Services crews used a robotic camera to check the line segment, which discovered a collapsed City main. Crews replaced the old main with a new 8-inch pipe.

For more information, contact Colleen Doctorian, public information officer for the Water Services Department, at 816-513-0232.
