Residents advised about wastewater overflow in Blue River Watershed

The City of Kansas City, Mo., Water Services Department reports a wastewater overflow due to a damaged manhole.

A Wastewater Maintenance crew found a collapsed manhole overflowing at the rate of about 10 gallons per minute into a drainage creek that leads to the Blue River at 11:05 a.m. on Wednesday, May 16. The manhole is in a wooded area behind 9432 Cleveland Ave. Multiple crews were on site to contain the overflow, make repairs and establish bypass pumping. The stoppage was cleared and flow resumed this afternoon. The rugged, isolated nature of the location slowed the corrective action.

For more information, contact Colleen Doctorian, public information officer for the Water Services Department, at 816-513-0232.
