Engage KC Leadership Board recruits young leaders
The City of Kansas City, Mo., invites young adults, ages 16-21, interested in City government to consider applying for the Engage KC Leadership Board.
Now in its eighth year, the Engage KC Leadership Board helps empower and develop young people into civic leaders by providing the guidance and advocacy necessary to strengthen their communities through service, civic engagement and leadership.
Throughout a one-year term, board members will participate in leadership training and seminar retreats; organize local community events for residents; engage with public administrators and City officials; and promote positive engagement and activities among young people. The Engage KC Leadership Board is an excellent opportunity for young adults involved in public service to explore their interest in local government.
"The future of our city depends upon building strong and capable leaders today. The Engage KC Leadership Board provides valuable leadership opportunities for our community's young people. I hope young Kansas Citians use this unique opportunity to explore public service and how local government impacts citizens' lives on a daily basis," said Mayor Sly James.
Applications are available at www.kcmo.org/engagekc. The deadline to apply is Monday, June 11. Selected applicants will be invited to interview with City staff and City Council members in June.
