Free Paint available for eligible City homeowners
Warmer weather signals the start of many things – one of which is the City of Kansas City, Mo., Paint Program.
“This program gives eligible homeowners, who do the required work to properly prepare a home to be painted, high-quality exterior paint at no cost,” said Bob Jackson, manager of the Property Preservation Division of the Housing and Community Development Program.”
Eligible applicants must complete an application to receive paint, primer, caulking and other supplies related to the painting of their home (total cost of the paint supplies will not exceed $500). Applicants must:
- Live in Kansas City, Mo.
- Own and live in the property to be painted
- Own only one property
- Meet the following household income guidelines set by the U.S. Department of Housing
and Urban Development:
One person $39,400
Two people $45,050
Three people $50,650
Four people $56,300
Five people $60,800
Six people $65,300
Seven people $69,800
Eight or more people $74,300.
Paint recipients must make all necessary repairs and properly prepare their houses for painting, prior to receiving supplies. After an inspector determines a house is ready to be painted, a voucher will be awarded to the homeowner that allows them to choose an in-store color of Sherwin-Williams paint; no color matching will be done.
