Front Street construction results in temporary closure
The City of Kansas City, Mo., is advising motorists that continued work on the City’s extensive Front Street improvement project will result in a three week detour starting May 10.
During the detour, River Front Road will be closed from Lydia Avenue to the Grand Street Viaduct. A posted detour will bypass the road at 3rd Street/Northeast Industrial Trafficway.
Roadway improvements on Front Street include the realignment of the roadway along Richard Berkeley Park from the Grand Street Viaduct to the Christopher S. Bond Bridge. Other improvements include construction of a four-lane divided arterial roadway with a pedestrian trail, streetlights, storm water control and parking lot improvements. This work is being managed by the City’s Capital Projects Department for the Kansas City Public Works Department.
The project is scheduled for completion this summer. The road is scheduled to reopen in late May.
Media inquiries and other requests for more information about this detour or the Front Street project should be directed to Sean Demory, Capital Projects Department, at 816-513-0059.
