New online food handler training option now available
The City of Kansas City, Mo., Health Department is now offering a new online vendor option for food handler training, Premier Food Safety at www.PremierFoodSafety.com. In addition to Premier Food Safety, food service workers may also use State Food Safety (www.StateFoodSafety.com) for online food handler training or they may attend a classroom training session at the Health Department.
“Whether online or in our classes at the department, these trainings help protect residents and visitors from food borne illness,” said Naser Jouhari, division manager of Environmental Public Health. “We wanted to provide options for food service workers, so if they can’t come to a class, they can take the training when it best suits them.”
The total cost for the training programs is $25, which includes the online training, final test, certificate and any Kansas City food handler card fees. The trainings at the Health Department are $20 and include training, final test, certificate and food handler card.
If residents have questions on whether another online training or previous training will count toward their food handler card in Kansas City, they may contact the Environmental Public Health Program at 816-513-6315. More information on food handler online training can be found at www.kcmo.org/health.
