Brush Creek Workshop seeks public input

The City of Kansas City, Mo., encourages residents to attend the Second Brush Creek Public Workshop on Thursday, April 21 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Mission Hills Country Club, 5400 Mission Drive, Mission Hills, Kan.

The workshop will offer residents the opportunity to review and comment on two possible plans to improve Brush Creek’s Bi-State Reach, the area just west of Country Club Plaza from Roanoke Parkway in Kansas City, Mo., across State Line Road into Johnson County, Kan. These plans aim to reduce flood hazards, improve water quality and explore the creek’s recreational benefits and opportunities in this region.

This workshop is part of the Brush Creek Feasibility Study that the City of Kansas City, Mo., is conducting in collaboration with Johnson County, Kan., and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, with facilitation by the Mid-America Regional Council (MARC). The study has so far proposed two concepts that reflect public input gathered during the First Brush Creek Public Workshop in Nov. 2010.

Residents are encouraged to preview these preliminary plans online at either or and to provide further comments and insights at the April 21 workshop.

For more information or media inquiries, please contact the Brushcreek Watershed Team at 816-523-2991 or contact Lynda Hoffman, the City’s acting division manager of Waterways, at 816-513-0489.
