City and County collaborate on Web-based tool for economic and community development
Kansas City, Mo., Mayor Pro Tem Cindy Circo, Councilman Scott Wagner and Jackson County Executive Mike Sanders will hold a joint press conference on Friday, March 16 at 9:30 a.m. to discuss a new Web-based tool hosted by Jackson County that will help facilitate economic and community development. The press conference will be held at the offices of the Local Investment Commission, located at 3100 Broadway St., Suite 1100, Kansas City, Mo.
Working in a collaborative manner to improve current housing conditions in Kansas City, the City, County, University of Missouri - Kansas City and the Kansas City, Mo., Police Department have created a single system for users to access in-depth information that can be presented in a variety of ways that are useful to neighborhoods and public policy makers.
Among the types of information users will be able to access:
Property availability and assessment information
Kansas City’s vacant and rental property registry
Locations of existing economic development incentives
Blight information for specific properties
311 Action Center information
Capital Projects Information
The county developed the website that the information is accessed through and is maintaining it at no additional expense to taxpayers as part of its economic development website. It will be updated on a regular basis so changes to neighborhoods will be visible over time.
County Executive Sanders, Mayor Pro Tem Cindy Circo and Councilman Wagner will be joined at the press conference by representatives from UMKC and the Kansas City, Mo., Police Department.
