City will participate in Statewide Tornado Drill on March 5 at 1:30 p.m.

The City of Kansas City, Mo., will participate in the 39th Annual Statewide Tornado Drill on Tuesday, March 5 at 1:30 p.m. by sounding the tornado outdoor warning sirens. Sirens are normally tested on the first Wednesday of the month at 11 a.m. In light of the statewide test the day before, the monthly March test will not occur.

The annual drill is held as part of Missouri Severe Weather Awareness Week, March 4 - 8. The City’s Office of Emergency Management, the National Weather Service and the State Emergency Management Agency urge the public to take that week as an opportunity to plan and prepare for how they will react and seek shelter in response to severe weather.
