Road closure signals next phase of Northwest 72nd Street construction
The City of Kansas City, Mo., advises motorists that the next phase of construction on the Northwest 72nd Street extension project is scheduled to begin next month.
Starting Tuesday, March 6, North Green Hills Road will close between Northwest Platte Brooke Drive and Northwest 72nd Street. This will allow crews to reconstruct North Green Hills Road, adding storm sewer improvements and other enhancements to the roadway.
The extensive road improvement project, which started in April 2011, will also extend Northwest 72nd Street from North Polk Avenue to Northwest Waukomis Drive and reconstruct Northwest Waukomis Drive from Northwest Bryan Avenue to Northwest 72nd Street, building a roundabout at the intersection of the three streets.
Work on this project is scheduled for completion in summer 2013. Kansas City’s Capital Projects Department managed the design and construction of this project for the City’s Public Works Department.
Media inquiries and other requests for more information about this project should be directed to Sean Demory, Capital Projects Department, at 816-513-0059 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
