Councilwoman Jan Marcason appointed to NLC steering committee
City of Kansas City, Mo., Councilwoman Jan Marcason, 4th District, has been appointed to the National League of Cities 2010 Energy, Environment and Natural Resources Steering Committee. Marcason was appointed to the steering committee by NLC President Ron Loveridge, mayor of Riverside, Calif.
Members of the Energy, Environment and Natural Resources Steering Committee are responsible for developing policy recommendations on issues such as air quality, water quality, energy policy, national wetlands policy, noise control, and solid and hazardous waste management.
“I am pleased to be appointed to the NLC’s Energy, Environment and Natural Resources Steering Committee and to have the opportunity to help shape the NLC’s position on federal policy regarding these issues that are so important to Kansas City, as well as to cities and towns nationwide,” Councilwoman Marcason said.
Marcason will attend the NLC’s Congressional City Conference March 13-16 in Washington, including the NLC Energy, Environment and Natural Resources Steering Committee meeting on Tuesday, March 16. At this meeting, the steering committee will begin developing a work plan for the year.
During the conference, Marcason and other members of the City Council also will meet with members of the Kansas City congressional delegation to discuss legislative priorities.
