City places St John’s Market on probation, suspends liquor license
Harling’s Upstairs placed on probation
The City of Kansas City, Mo., Regulated Industries Division of the Neighborhood and Community Services Department and the managing officer of St John’s Market, a convenience store, have agreed to a 28-day-suspension of the store’s liquor license. St John’s Market is located at 3701 St John Ave.
The suspension is from Feb. 22 at 6 a.m. to March 22 at 1:30 a.m. The suspension is the result of employees selling alcoholic beverages to minors which is a City ordinance violation. During the suspension, St. John’s Market will remain open but alcoholic beverages will not be sold.
St. John’s Market also was placed on a six-month probationary period due to repeat violations of employees selling alcoholic beverages to minors. The probationary period is from Feb. 16 to Aug. 16.
In order to successfully complete the probationary period, St. John’s Market must comply with all liquor license ordinances and cannot cause a nuisance to or change in character of the residential area or the immediate area surrounding the business. Should St John’s Market fail to successfully complete the probationary period, the business will be required to obtain consents from a majority of all eligible neighboring property owners in order to retain all liquor licenses and permits.
As a condition of the suspension, the managing officer of St. John’s Market has agreed to provide education, training and instruction to employees about City ordinances.
The Regulated Industries Division has placed Harling’s Upstairs on probation for a period of six months. Harling’s Upstairs is a tavern s located at 3941 Main St.
Harling’s Upstairs was placed on probation due to recent City ordinance violations which included keeping the business open after legal operating hours and allowing customers to consume alcoholic beverages on an unlicensed portion of the premises. The probationary period is from on Feb. 12 to Aug. 12.
In order to successfully complete the probationary period, Harling’s Upstairs must comply with all liquor license ordinances and cannot cause a nuisance to or change in character of the residential area or the immediate area surrounding the business. Should Harling’s Upstairs fail to successfully complete the probationary period, the business will be required to obtain consents from a majority of all eligible neighboring property owners in order to retain all liquor licenses and permits.
