Health Department offers free HPV vaccine for young adults
The City of Kansas City, Mo., Health Department is offering free Human Papilloma Virus vaccine for males and females between 19 and 25 years of age. The HPV vaccine is a series of three shots over six months and can help prevent certain cancers and genital warts.
“We are able to start at least 600 people in the vaccine program through this September,” said Ron Griffin, manager of the Communicable Disease Prevention and Public Health Preparedness Division. “The sooner young adults are vaccinated, the sooner they are protected. Normal costs per shot can range from $60 to $165 or even more.”
