Health Department offers free flu vaccine
The City of Kansas City, Mo., Health Department now offers flu vaccine at no charge for the remainder of the flu season while supplies remain.
"Getting vaccinated against the flu is an important part of protecting yourself and those around you from getting the flu," said Dr. Rex Archer, director of the Health Department. "Every flu season is different, so it is very important that each of us does our part by getting vaccinated every year."
The Health Department has vaccine available on a walk-in basis during regular clinic hours for those aged two years and older, but supplies are limited.
"If vaccine is not available the first place you check, don't give up. Vaccine is still available around the community," Dr. Archer said.
The Health Department's clinic hours are 8-11:30 a.m. and 1-4 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursdays. Registration for the clinic closes 30 minutes before the clinic does each day, so please do not wait till the end of a shift to arrive, as we might not be able to assist you during that shift.
