City partnership allows students to see Shrek for free
The City of Kansas City, Mo., Office of Civic and Community Engagement has leveraged a partnership with the Kansas City Theater League to provide local students complimentary tickets to attend the Broadway musical “Shrek” on Wednesday, Jan. 12 at the Musical Hall. Following the performance, students will receive an extra treat when they meet the cast of the production.
Recipients of the tickets attend the following schools: Central High School, Paseo Academy of Fine and Performing Arts, Ingels Elementary School, Afrikan-Centered Education Collegium Campus, Lincoln College Preparatory Academy and East High School.
“Many of these students will witness a Broadway production for the very first time,” said Councilwoman Jan Marcason. “I am glad the City established such a wonderful partnership. The Office of Civic and Community Engagement leverages several partnerships of this nature and provides hundreds of young people with rich experiences and meaningful experiences."
The Theater League is a nonprofit, tax-exempt, community-based performing arts organization dedicated to the development of professional legitimate theater, both as a cultural and educational resource.
