Councilwoman Marcason appointed to National League of Cities’ steering committee

City of Kansas City, Mo., Fourth District Councilwoman Jan Marcason has been appointed to the National League of Cities’ (NLC) 2012 Finance, Administration and Intergovernmental Relations Steering Committee. This committee develops policypositions on issuesinvolving national economic policy, general financial assistance programs, liability insurance, intergovernmental relations, Census, municipal bonds and capital finance, municipal management, citizen participation and civil rights, labor relations and municipal authority. The appointment was announced by NLC President Ted Ellis.

“Municipalities all over the country are facing difficult issues regarding finances and policies,” said Councilwoman Marcason. “Through my participation on this committee, our City will not only be able to share information on its successes, but will have an opportunity to review best practices from other cities during these trying financial times.”

As a member of the committee, Councilwoman Marcason will play a key role in shaping NLC’s policy positions, while advocating on behalf of America’s cities and towns on Capitol Hill, with the Administration and at home.

Councilwoman Marcason has also served on several other NLC committees, including the Energy, Environment and Natural Resources Public Policy Steering Committee; the NLC Large Cities Council; and the NLC Regulations Committee.
