Boys & Girls Clubs Annual National Fine Arts Display at Convention Center

Artwork from Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City members will be on display at the Kansas City Convention Center, 301 W. 13th St., from Jan. 11 to March 13 as part of the annual Boys & Girls Clubs of America National Fine Arts Exhibition and Competition. The artwork is created by youth ages 5-18 in mediums such as monochromatic, mixed media, watercolors, acrylics, oil paints, multicolor drawings, collages, printmaking and ceramic sculptures.

Members compete locally and selected artwork winners are then sent to regional competitions, and then regional winners go on to participate in the national competition.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of America National Fine Arts Exhibit has previously been on display around the community as a traveling exhibit at Crown Center, Bruce R. Watkins Heritage Culture, Ward Parkway Shopping Center, H&R Block, United Way, Parris Communications, Black Chamber of Commerce, Bannister Mall, Blue Ridge Mall and at the Juneteenth Festival.

Since 1912, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City has provided youth development activities for boys and girls, with special emphasis on youth from disadvantaged circumstances.
