FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Jan. 6, 2006
Wyandotte Street Bridge closure date rescheduled
Wyandotte Street from 14th Street to 16th Street over Interstate 670 will close in early February due to construction activities for the expansion of the Kansas City Convention Center. This closure, which was originally scheduled to begin Jan. 3, is anticipated to last until fall 2006.
Officials from the City of Kansas City, Mo., Public Works Department suggest that motorists use alternate routes including Central or Baltimore streets. During construction, 14th Street, from Wyandotte Street to Baltimore Street, will temporarily be converted to a two-way street. In addition, Baltimore Street, from Truman Road to 12th Street, has permanently been converted to a two-way street to help ease traffic congestion.
Related information, suggested detour routes and a map displaying the closures are available on the Capital Improvements Management Office’s Web site (www.kcmo.org/cimo).
