The City of Kansas City, Mo., Water Services Department will begin another voter approved bond project in mid-February at the intersection of North Oak Trafficway and Vivion Road. Approximately 1,000 feet of a 54-inch transmission main, also known as the Arrowhead Transmission Main, and 600 feet of a 36-inch transmission main will be installed at the intersection. Additional segments are planned for installation during the next few years. The new transmission mains will increase capacity for the Northland to accommodate growth as well as improve system reliability.
This project also includes the replacement of approximately 1 mile of an existing 10-inch water distribution main with a 12-inch main along the east side of North Oak from Vivion Road to Englewood Road. This will connect up to a 12-inch main, recently installed from the Water Treatment Plant at 32nd Street to Vivion Road.
Construction in the intersection of Vivion and North Oak will be begin in mid-February and will continue through March. The intersection will be closed during the following weekends beginning Friday evenings at 6 pm through 5 am Monday morning. Recommended detour routes are listed below.
Expect significant delays and intermittent road closures on weekends during construction; avoid the intersection of North Oak Trafficway and Vivion Road if possible. Recommended alternate routes with maps, up-to-date lane closure information and additional project details are posted online at www.kcmo.org/water. The intersection will be closed the following dates:
