The Public Works Department employs about 400 employees who provide many essential city services, such as:

• Recycling,
• Trash collection,
• Bulky item pickup,
• Street maintenance,
• Traffic signs and signals,
• Street lighting
• Snow removal
• Public Works design and construction standards

Stan Harris is the director of Public Works. His office is located on the 20th floor of City Hall.  Additional department responsibilities include oversight of public transportation (Area Transportation Authority).
