Think Safety

Advised safety tips:

1. Wear light colored clothing and a safety vest.
2. Face oncoming traffic.
3. Keep vehicles parked legally and to a minimum.
4. A minimum of one adult supervisor for every four children. Keep children in sight at all times.
5. Do not remove hazardous substances. If in doubt, contact City personnel.
6. Stay well clear of construction projects.
7. Do not remove large or heavy items, appliances, furniture, etc. Call City personnel to arrange for pickup.

Recommended safety tips:

1. Stop work in inclement weather.
2. Be alert for stray and/or wild animals.
3. Be alert for obstacles, holes, displaced sidewalks, etc.
4. Avoid overexertion.
5. Provide water or other refreshments for the workers.
6. Wear a hat, long sleeves and gloves.
7. Avoid contact with noxious weeds.
8. Be careful when using a litter pickup stick. We recommend that leather boots or shoes be worn during its use.

In case of emergency

1. Have a first aid kit readily available.
2. Have transportation readily available.
3. Designate a safety officer for the crew.
