Overview
The Planning Section is a sub-group of the Street and Traffic Division of the Public Works Department. The primary function of the group is planning and providing technical review of capital projects. Consultant selection, contract administration and project management are important functions provided by this group.
Capital Planning
- Manage alignment and grade studies for proposed capital projects
- Implement Annual Capital Bridge Program overseeing 535 structures
- Primary PW coordinate for city's Public Improvement Advisory Committee
- Coordinate and implement annual 5-Year Capital Improvement Program
- Manage County Urban Road System with Jackson County
- Primary Liaison for MoDOT program and project coordination
- Primary liaison to Mid-America Regional Council Transportation Committees
- Highway Committee
- MO Priorities Committee
- Bike/Pedestrian Advisory Committee
- Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality Committee
- Metro Green Advisory Committee
