To select your adopted street, simply state the name of the street(s) you wish to adopt, and the program coordinator will check on the availability of that street(s) for adoption or suggest other streets in your area that could be adopted. Boulevards, parkways, trafficways and highways are not included within the scope of this program.
To keep the program manageable, minimum 1/2-mile sections of street (six blocks) must be adopted. Streets are adopted on a first-come, first-served basis. Street adopters are requested to pick up trash along the roadway at least every 45 days or more frequently if necessary.
Organizations may select one of many streets in the City to maintain for litter control and/or beautification. The City will provide your organization with:
- Recognition signs posted on the roadway stating organization's name and amount of street adopted. For example: “The next 6 blocks are adopted by 'your organization name' for litter control.”
- Adoption certificate for display at your organizations headquarters
- A safety tips brochure
- Trash bags and prompt pickup and disposal of full trash bags following cleanup
- Adoption Agreement
- Covenant Not to Sue
