Our custom-schedule group programs provide experiential learning opportunities for families, scouts, home schoolers and more!  Come to us or we will come to you.

Wildlife program
1 hour
Tuesday through Sunday, by reservation
$4 per person; $40 minimum
Ages: 4 years and up
Participate in programs where live native Missouri animals are handled by experienced Naturalists. Learn adaptations for survival, habitat needs, food sources, predators to beware of and life histories of native wildlife. Available at Lakeside Nature Center or your school.

Limestone glade ecosystem
2 hours, includes hike and presentation
Tuesday through Friday, by reservation
$5 per person; $50 minimum
Ages: 7 years and up
Accompany an experienced naturalist on 1.1-mile hike through the limestone glade ecosystem. Then, return to Lakeside Nature Center to learn in person about live animals that inhabit the limestone glade. Must provide own transportation from hike site to Lakeside Nature Center.  

Wetland ecosystem
2 hours, includes hike and presentation
Tuesday through Friday; by reservation
$5 per person; $50 minimum
Ages: 7 years to adult
Accompany an experienced naturalist on one mile hike through the wetlands of Swope Park.  Then return to Lakeside Nature Center to learn in person about live animals that inhabit the Wetlands. Must provide own transportation from hike site to Lakeside Nature Center.   

Forest Ecosystem    
2 hours, includes hike and presentation
Tuesday through Friday; by reservation
$5 per person; $50 minimum
Ages: 7 years to adult
Accompany an experienced naturalist on a one mile hike through the forests ecosystem of Swope Park.  Then return to Lakeside Nature Center to learn in person about live animals that inhabit the forests.  Must provide own transportation from hike site to Lakeside Nature Center.

Science lab for home school students
Call for schedule 
$50 per person; $45 each additional child in family
Ages: first grade (must be 6 years old) through fifth grade
This five week science lab geared for home school students provides an in-depth study of major animal groups represented by Lakeside Nature Center's collection: mammals, owls, hawks, eagles, falcons, vultures, amphibians, reptiles, fish and invertebrates. One class of five is devoted to hiking Fox Hollow Trail on the grounds of Lakeside Nature Center. 

Wildlife for school assembly
1 hour
Tuesday through Friday, by reservation.
$200, plus mileage if outside Kansas City, MO. (.30/mile) 
Ages: 4 years and up  
Live nature Missouri animals, handled by an experienced naturalist, are presented to large student audiences. Learn adaptations for survival, habitat needs, food sources, predator to beware of, and life histories of native wildlife. 
  

Customized family program
1 hour
Tuesday through Sunday, by reservation.
$4 per person up to 50 students 
Ages: All     
Gather friends and family, choose a topic related to wildlife living and call Lakeside Nature Center to schedule your personalized one-on-one session with an experienced naturalist.
