RULES: Contest is open to the general public with cash prizes! All submissions must be photographed in one of Kansas City, Missouri’s parks or facilities (www.kcmo.org/parks for locations). Photos must have been taken between January 1, 2008 and March 17, 2011. Photos will be judged on artistic merit and should illustrate the beauty of the park/facility or activities taking place within them.
REQUIREMENTS: Images will be accepted in two age divisions: Youth (14 and under) and Adult. Submissions may be made in any of three categories: "Activities & Events", "Landmarks, Monuments & Fountains" and "Nature & Wildlife". Judges reserve the right to determine if a photograph is appropriately categorized and change a photograph’s category.
SUBMISSIONS: Each entrant may submit up to six (6) entries total. Application fee is $5 for one (1) to six (6) entries. Submissions will accepted online at Juried Art Services. Deadline for entries is March 17, 2011.
RESTRICTIONS: Minor enhancements for cropping, red-eye removal, filters and corrective functions are permitted, but images that have been judged to be altered in any significant manner will be disqualified. Photographs of people (when recognizable in the photo) must have written and signed consent (model release) before the photo will be accepted into the contest displayed.
ACCEPTANCE/USE: Kansas City, Missouri Parks and Recreation and the City of Kansas City, Missouri reserve the right to use submitted images at its discretion, in whole or in part without payment or compensation.
JURORS: Entries will be judged by a team of professionals.
AWARDS: $1,000 first place/$500 second place/$250 third place will be awarded to the top three photographs in each category for the Adult age group. Additionally, one $1,500 prize will be presented to the overall "Best of Show" in the Adult age group. KC Parks prize packages will be awarded to the top three photographs in each category for the Youth age group. The winners will be announced on May 1, 2011 and will be notified by phone and email.
EXHIBITS: Winners and Honorable Mentions (optional) work will be exhibited at a location to be determined.
