Review the official bird, flower and tree for your stat; how birds use their beaks as a tool; characteristics of various wildlife groups; poisonous plants and venomous animals; take a closer look at nature and learn about a resident at LNC.
Boy Scout Wildlife Bear Achievement: Sharing Your World with Wildlife Tuesday through Sunday, by reservation $5 per person; $50 minimum Ages: Boy Scout Bears and leaders Meet the requirements for Wildlife Bear Achievement. Learn the jobs of a Wildlife Conservation Officer, learn about endangered and extinct animals and the things that cause them to have trouble, see a LNC animal up close. Webelo Boy Scout Forester Badge April - October (when trees have leaves) Tuesday - Sunday; by reservation $5 per person; $50 minimum Ages: Webelo Scouts and leader Meet the requirements for Webelo Scout Forester Badge. This program is offered during the season when trees have leaves. Participants will make a map of U.S.A. forests, be able to identify six forest trees, identify six forest plants (other than trees) and how they are useful to wildlife, and describe the harm and benefits of wildfires and how a tree's growth rings tell of its life.
Webelo Boy Scout Naturalist Badge Tuesday through Sunday, by reservation $5 per person; $50 minimum Ages: Webelo Scouts and leader Meet the requirements to for the Webelo Scout Naturalist Badge. See the center and learn what happens there. Make a map of bird flyways used at migration time, learn to identify poisonous plants and venomous reptiles, learn in-depth about one of the resident wild animals, and describe the habitats and behaviors of six different wild animals seen at LNC or outdoors. Webelo Boy Scout Geologist Badge Tuesday through Sundays, by reservation $5 per person; $50 minimum Ages: Webelo Scouts and leader Meet the requirements to for the Webelo Scout Geologist Badge. Learn about geologic products used in building homes. Determine minerals used to make items from our daily lives; make a drawing showing the cause of a volcano and explain a way in which mountains are formed. Scouts also make a scale of mineral hardness for objects. |
