Kansas City Parks and Recreation Department athletic field(s)/complexes and tennis courts can be used the following ways:
  • Open walk-on play - First come-first served, no reservation required, although priority is given for those holding a valid Field Use Permit, Tennis Court Rental or Facility Use Agreement.
  • Field Use Permit - Short-term reserved use of fields/complex/court. Fee required for permit.
  • Tennis Court Rental - Short-term reserved use of tennis court. Fee required for permit.
  • Facility Use Agreement - Long-term, reserved use of fields/complexes by leagues and organized sports organizations; insurance and fee required. This option can be with or without concessions.

You may reserve an athletic field beginning the first Monday of February,  for reservations in that calendar year on-line, s
ign up NOW!.  Please be advised, reservations must be made a minimum of three (3) days in advance and are limited to the current calendar year in which they are made.

Youth Sports

Wee Sport Camps
Kansas City North Community Center, 3930 N.E. Antioch
Wee sport camps will focus on basic rules, skills, fun and exercise. Parents will help with drill stations while helping creating a fun, encouraging sports atmosphere. All players will receive a camp shirt and an award for completing the camp. For more information, call 816-784-6100.

Mayor's Night Programs



MAYOR’S NIGHTS PROGRAMS
Mayor’s Nights are not your standard athletic programs. They also include a mandatory education component requiring each player to participate in a series of classes such as A.C.T. preparation, job training and life skills. Additionally all participants must maintain strict adherence to program rules of play, punctuality and general behavior. These programs are designed to transition young adults into mainstream America with an emphasis on career development and fiscal responsibility. Mayors’ Nights programs provide a positive and safe environment for participants, family and friends supporting and cheering them on. Program registration opens April 1 at kcparks.org.

The Wilderness Run in the Shoal Creek Living History Museum

This challenging cross-country run/ walk in beautiful Hodge Park will have you running through the museum's village, up and down hills, over logs, through the woods, crossing creeks and more! Participants will receive a long sleeve T-shirt, homemade soup, bagels, and fruit.

24th Annual Kris Kringle 5K run in Swope Park

Online pre-registration at $25 will end, Thursday, Dec. 12 at midnight.
Day of the run registration, 8:30 - 9:30 a.m., $50
Held annually, the second Saturday in December, the Kris Kringle 5K run provides exercise and enjoyment for participants of all fitness levels. The cross country course will take you up and down hills, over fields and through historic Swope Park. Everyone that pre-registers, will receive a Kris Kringle Run long sleeve shirt. Recreational Programs for Individuals with Disabilities


Inclusive recreation
The Parks and Recreation Department, in partnership with UMKC-Institute of Human Development, are providing inclusive recreation opportunities in Kansas City.

National Sports Center for the Disabled Sports Camps
This FREE interactive camp allows kids with disabilities, either physical or developmental, age 6-18 to experience first hand the sport of basketball. This fun-filled day will include instruction and skill development, use of equipment, games and prizes.

National Sports Center for the Disabled
The Parks and Recreation Department serves as an affiliate for the National Sports Center for the Disabled, which is based in Denver.
