Kansas City Dream Home Program

Effective Immediately, the KC Dream HOME Program has been suspended for the year and will not accept reservations. The KC Dream HOME Program will resume February 1, 2014 and begin accepting reservations at that time.
“Confirmed” reservations currently in the pipeline will be processed; and should all requirements be satisfied, the homebuyer will be approved and a “Homebuyer Written Agreement” executed/signed no later than December 31, 2013.
The KC Dream Home Program assists low- to moderate-income first-time homebuyers and displaced homemakers purchase a home of their choice within the city limits of Kansas City, Missouri. The program provides homeownership opportunities to people who may otherwise lack the resources to own their own home. Assistance will be provided in the form of a second mortgage loan at 0% interest, forgiveable after a period of time. Interested persons should contact a participating lender
for applications to apply.
The City has established the following target areas and subsidy limits:
- Heart of the City – Primary Target Area – the lesser of 20% of purchase price or $20,000
- Truman – Primary Target Area - the lesser of 20% of purchase price or $20,000
- Swope – Primary Target Area - the lesser of 20% of purchase price or $20,000
- Hickman/Ruskin – Secondary Target Area - the lesser of 20% of purchase price or $20,000
- Downtown – Secondary Target Area - the lesser of 20% of purchase price or $20,000
- Briarcliff/Winwood – Secondary Target Area - the lesser of 20% of purchase price or $20,000
- Citywide (outside of any Target Area) - the lesser of 10% of purchase price or $10,000

The MORE Program is a residential housing mortgage program offered by the Missouri Housing Development Commission
(MHDC) for first time and repeat homebuyers in targeted areas
of Kansas City, Missouri. Homebuyers must purchase a home being offered for sale by a non-profit community partner or governmental entities and must be prequalified through a MHDC approved lender
. MHDC lenders must submit the MORE 101 Form
to the City of Kansas City for approval of the seller identity and the property location. The local government contact is Doug Bossert
30 year fixed rate subject to income and purchase price limits; first time homebuyer is waived. Property must be located in the city's designated areas. Property must be owned by municipality or non-for-profit.
