How to reclaim a vehicle

To reclaim an impounded vehicle from the tow lot, you must have the following:

  • Vehicle title or current registration
  • Photo ID and (if driving the vehicle off the lot) a valid driver’s license. If the owner of the impounded vehicle does not have a valid driver’s license, they must be accompanied with someone who possesses a valid driver’s license. An unlicensed driver cannot drive an impounded vehicle off the lot.
  • Money order, cashier's check or credit card to pay the tow fees -- no cash or personal/business checks are accepted. The credit card must belong to the person using it.

To retrieve a vehicle on behalf of the owner, you must have the vehicle title or current registration, photo ID and/or a signed and notarized letter authorizing you to pick up the vehicle. The notarized letter must identify the vehicle by make, model, year and VIN. The photo ID must match the person named in the notarized letter.
