The Regulated Industries Division of the
Neighborhood and Community Services Department oversees compliance of a number of regulated businesses through the enforcement of City ordinances. This division coordinates activities closely with the
Police,
Fire,
Health, and
City Planning and Development departments to ensure those businesses, which are unique in nature, comply in all aspects with the law to ensure that the health and safety of our residents is protected.
The Regulated Industries Division is responsible for issuing and regulating:
- Employee liquor permits
- Liquor licenses
- Temporary catering liquor licenses
- Non-profit organization liquor permits (for nonprofit organizations)
- Sidewalk café permits
- Adult entertainer and manager employee permits
- Adult entertainment licenses (bookstores)
- Adult live entertainment licenses (adult cabaret)
- Dance hall permits
- Haunted house permits
- Billiard/pool hall permits
- Skating rink permits
- Carnivals/motor raceway permits
- Day labor business permits
- Secondary metal recycler permits
- Short term loan establishment permits
- Taxicab businesses
- Livery businesses
- Pedicab businesses
- Sightseeing vehicle businesses (including horse-drawn carriages on the Plaza)
Processing time varies on applications. Contact the Regulated Industries Division well in advance of the time the license is needed.
